A POSITIVE VOICE FOR THE RESIDENTS OF THE HYDE PARK ESTATE

Proposed 24/7 alcohol distribution

The application for this licence was heard on 22nd September 2022. The application resulted in reduced house of 8am to 6pm Mon-Weds, 8am to 8pm Thurs, 8am to 6pm Fri-Sat, 10am to 4pm Sun.

Other conditions were imposed including: no delivery by 3rd parties (such as Deliveroo/Uber Eats); no deliveries outside the hours for sale of alcohol above; no sale of super-strength beer/lagers/ciders except for premium brands; and a condition to regulate delivery drivers (which will be the applicant his employee).

HyPER has submitted an objection to an application for 24/7 alcohol distribution from a Safestore storage unit below the Water Gardens. We are concerned about the potential for noise, litter and nuisance both at the location of premises and at the final destination. Whilst we are normally supportive of businesses on the Estate, we do not feel that an online distribution unit adds much to the social fabric of the area. In addition, the premises does not have planning consent to operate for the purpose stated in the Premises Licence application.

Whilst this is our evaluation so far, we would welcome representation from HyPER members who may have different opinions on this matter.

The licence is due for a hearing at the licensing sub-committee on Thursday 22nd September.
