Our very own Connaught village has been the talk of the town, and we thought you might be interested to see it. For example, have you heard the story about how La Maritxu ended up with queues around the block, and selling out of cheesecake by 4PM? It went viral on Instagram twice! We have all the details below.
First off, there’s a very important consultation on the council’s latest plans for the area. If you’re in a rush please skip to the bottom of the page to see it! You’ve got until 13th March to put your thoughts across. Here’s some other news first.
Connaught Village in the Evening Standard
This week, the Editor-in-chief of the Evening Standard, Dylan Jones, wrote about our neck of the woods. See if you agree with him – his piece is here. And it seems he lives locally, so do keep an eye out!
Connaught Village on “Freshminster”, on social media and online
An account on “X” (previously Twitter) and a website, both called Freshminster, has written two pieces about Connaught Village.
The first one is on the Freshminster website here, and includes the story of how La Maritxu ended up with queues around the block … (have you seen the viral Instagram videos yet? The links are all in the blog.)
Their second piece includes a thorough look at the council’s latest plans for Connaught Village.
If you like reading things on “X”, this same piece is on their social media account here.
Have your say!
The council are currently consulting on new plans for Connaught Village, and we’d love you to give your thoughts. We feel that whilst the proposals will be beneficial compared to the status-quo, that this is a missed opportunity, given the one-off chance and the budget of £1.4m (which is unlikely to be available again). Other areas of London have achieved more with less.
Here’s a link to the details so you can see what you think.
