Those regularly walking around the north end of Paddington will almost certainly have encountered the barrier that is Bishops Bridge. Built in 2006, the bridge’s layout is looking somewhat out of date by today’s standards. The pavements are narrow and cluttered, the pedestrian crossings ad-hoc, the road wide and dominated by motor traffic. The road is a significant barrier to the thousands of people living, working and visiting the area.
With this in mind, and with further office and retail developments in the pipeline as well as the Elizabeth line recently opening, a project is underway to improve the conditions for those walking and cycling in its vicinity. Engagement is currently taking place with those living and working in the area, and the project team would like to hear from you.
How would you like to see the bridge improved? What are the barriers that you personally encounter? What are your priorities for an improved bridge? Have your say by completing the survey on the Bishop’s Bridge project website.
