Westminster Council has released proposals to make improvements to the cycle lane on Westbourne Terrace. The cycle lane was originally installed in haste as a temporary scheme during Covid.
The proposals include:
- Narrowing of central cycle lane with ghost segregation on the southbound approach to the junction with Bishops Bridge Road to improve cyclists’ safety.
- Introduction of green surface dressing on the southbound approach to Bishops Bridge Road to further highlight the presence of cyclists.
- Adjustments to existing cycle lane tapers throughout the scheme
- Existing kerbside restrictions to be upgraded to double yellow lines and double blips along sections of mandatory 24-hour cycle lane.
- Amendments to existing signs to align with the existing cycle lane layout.
- Proposed introduction of giveway markings at exits of residential slip roads.
- All blacked out markings to be removed through hydroblasting.
- Refresh existing road markings where needed.
Full details of the proposals and information on how to have your say are contained on the Council’s website.
