A POSITIVE VOICE FOR THE RESIDENTS OF THE HYDE PARK ESTATE

A40 Westway closed from this Friday

A planned closure of the A40 Westway commences this Friday 20th, to enable vital safety and maintenance work to take place. The closure will be from the Westway Roundabout in North Kensington up to (and including) the Marylebone flyover. Marylebone Road itself will be open. The closure will last until late April.

Map of the planned closure

The critical safety work will replace structural joints between the Westway and Marylebone flyovers, which have reached the end of their serviceable life.

TfL and partners have been carrying out renewal works for a number of years. This next phase of work involves replacing two joints on the Marylebone Flyover A40 Westway, which allow the flyover to safely expand and contract with temperature changes and vehicle movements.

This is complex and specialist work which requires a full carriageway closure. The nature of the work and the structure mean the carriageway can’t be reopened until the work is completed. TfL reviewed a range of options and concluded that closing the Westway is the best way to ensure the essential work is completed as quickly and safely as possible.
