A POSITIVE VOICE FOR THE RESIDENTS OF THE HYDE PARK ESTATE

Praed Street Public Art Programme

As part of the High-Streets Paddington-Bayswater programme Westminster Council is developing a series of public art commissions for Praed Street, working with a public art agency.

The first commission being taken forward is to select one artist to deliver two 2D mural artworks on Praed Street. An artist Open call for Submissions has been published.

A jury panel has been assembled, including a representative from HyPER, who will work with Westminster Council and the agency LACUNA to shortlist and select the winning artists.

The purpose of the jury is to:

  • Participate in the artist selection process
  • Make recommendations to the commissioner (Westminster City Council)
  • Provide local advocacy and support for the art commission

The first jury panel will take place in May. Watch this space for further details.

  1. Great initiative Andy and thank you for selecting me to represent HyPER. If any members have strong views about what kind of public art they would like to see in their neighbourhood, please let me know. Speak now or forever hold your peace! If you don’t speak up now, you forfeit your right to have strong views later!!!!! Just kidding … Chris Gunness
